OUR MISSION
Educating the Youth of Colonia Volcanes near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico through
donor and volunteer support.
Education Breaks The Cycle Of Poverty!
The Volcanes Community Education Program is providing additional education free of charge to students (outside of the public funded school system).
Our program gives these children an additional opportunity to learn in order to enhance their chances for better employment and to allow them to work towards breaking the cycle of poverty! Volcanes students who are in Grades 3-6, middle school, and now adults are given the opportunity to learn English and Computer skills for free with our program.

How Our Project Started
The government builds elementary schools, but has limited funds available for operating these schools. Volcanes had an old 4 Room Schoolhouse built many years ago by aid money from Canada and other countries. The crowded 4 room schoolhouse was bursting at the seams with hungry children. Hungry children can't learn!
A feeding program was started in 2007 and began to help the students in Volcanes’ primary and kindergarten schools. Food was distributed and the children’s attendance and marks went up.

Our English Class Programs
The Project is currently offering English and Computer classes to approximately 180 students in grades 3 through middle school opposite their regular school hours.
Students who attend regular classes in the morning will come to our program in the afternoon, and vice-versa for the afternoon schedule. This means that ALL of our students are coming to school on a volunteer basis and show up for class because they truly want to learn!
How You Can Help
The programs offered by our Project benefit the Volcanes community greatly. The children are eager to participate and they run to classes every day. Class participation is excellent and the students are very enthusiastic. The community is so very appreciative. We need:
Financial donations - for school supplies for students and teachers, for operating expenses (fuel and maintenance for van), for teacher honoraria.
Donations of school supplies – if you or someone you know is traveling to Puerto Vallarta, please consider bringing some school supplies in your suitcase
